WELCOME FRIEND

meet your photographer

My name is Andrea Zajonc and I have the best job in the world. I first discovered my love of photography among the roses of René Vivani Square in the heart of Paris, a love that has blossomed into wedding, engagement, family, and portrait photography in and around Portland, Oregon.

Every wedding and family I photograph reminds me of the beautiful, unexpected ways that life unfolds. Since my own wedding, I’ve traveled around the world, moved across the country three times, earned a Master’s degree, briefed congressional committees, taught yoga, started businesses, and brought two beautiful babies into the world. The only constant has been the photos of all the moments and milestones along the way.

WHEREVER LIFE TAKES YOU, I’M SO GRATEFUL TO SHARE A SPECIAL DAY WITH YOU.

a little bit about me

my background

I’ve been lucky to have a fascinating life. I’ve lived in every corner of the United States, traveled across the world, and excelled in different fields, only to ultimately fall in love with photography and the Pacific Northwest.

purpose

Photography is my passion. From the photos I take of my two sweet boys to the newlyweds dancing slowly on a moonlit summer Oregon night, I live for the joy that my camera brings me every day. Sweet, candid moments drive my work and that is reflected in every gallery that I deliver. Authentic and timeless photos are my purpose and I love my job.

creativity

My work is a reflection of my deep appreciation for the beauty of simplicity. I find inspiration in the ordinary, the everyday moments that often go unnoticed. Whether it’s the play of light and shadow on a city street, the candid laughter of a family, or the textures of nature, I strive to capture the essence of these moments and create lasting memories.

legacy

Family is everything to me, and my photography starts and ends at home. I love capturing birthdays, holidays, and every day. Weekly and monthly photo sessions have turned into piles of albums that I will treasure forever. Photos are the closest thing to a time machine that any of us will ever invent, and I love using mine to visit all the unforgettable moments we’ve shared.

Highlights

From Recent Years

The Centennial Eclipse

Youngberg Hill Winery, Oregon

As in the soft and sweet eclipse, when soul meets soul on lover’s lips.” – Percy Bysshe Shelly

I’ll never forget the silence or the sense of awe. An eclipse doesn’t look like anything at first, just a little nibble at the edge of the sun. The darkness falls slowly, and then all at once as the moon transits. This was the first eclipse to fully cross the United States in nearly a century, and was one of the most meaningful and incredible events I’ve ever photographed. I’m honored to have shared the day with Kelly and Mark, who are an equally incredible couple.

The Green Heart of La Rocca Dei Trinci

Umbria, Italy

“In America, one must be something, but in Italy one can simply be.” – Pietros Maneos.

Time stops in the green heart of Italy. Moments become smaller. Hands brushing against tall, soft grass sown with wildflowers. Leaning against the battlement of a medieval castle and watching the sunset over rolling hills and olive groves. Incredible food. Indescribable wine. Friends and loved ones; grandparents and babies. The memories and photos from Alicia and Denny’s fairy-tale destination wedding will last a lifetime.

The Year of Intimate Elopements

“Tell him yes. Even if you are dying of fear, even if you are sorry later, because whatever you do, you will be sorry all the rest of your life if you say no.” – Gabriel García Márquez

I’ll never forget what it felt like to witness such love and courage among loss. Weddings became intimate, oftentimes just the couple and a single witness. They all all talked about the loved ones they wished could be there. Many were frontline medical workers who’d sacrificed so much, and had finally taken a day to celebrate the relationship that allowed them to persevere through a year of hardship. I was grateful to photograph one such ceremony with Kara and Juwan, pictured.

Still Having Fun

I’m look forward to the future, and feeling grateful for the past – Mike Rowe

2023 was one of my favorite years. I was able to photograph so many beautiful couples on the most important day of their lives. It is a privilege to do this work and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
